Health professionals petition FTC for relief from red flags rule

CHICAGO – In light of a recent federal court decision, four national
organizations representing dentists, physicians and veterinarians called
on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) today to exclude health
professionals from controversial new regulation intended to combat
identity theft.

Red Flag Rule Delayed until June 1, 2010

The Federal Trade Commission has announced that implementation of the “Red
Flags Rule” has been delayed until June 1, 2010.
Medical Societies have been working to inform the FTC
and Congress that physicians are not “creditors” and should not be subject
to the rule.
