For Immediate Release,  Pittsburgh, PA:  They are the connective tissue in medical practices that no matter how many times you visit the doctor’s office, you’ll never see. They are the Practice Managers.  Yet when a patient is subject to delayed insurer approvals, a denied claim or a wait for care, the practice manager steps in.

As the population of Western Pennsylvania shrinks, the struggle is real for healthcare practices trying to attract new patients and navigate a sea of government regulation and insurance hurdles. Looking for life preservers to remain afloat, area practice managers are gathering on June 5th for the Management Professionals in Healthcare (MPHC) 2020 held at the Rivers Casino. “New for 2020, we are introducing A-List management speakers and a Medical Practice Innovation Shark Tank,” says Jeremy Bonfini, CEO of the Allegheny County Medical Society.

Insurance Help Desk

MPHC will be bringing back the insurance help desk which connected medical practices with four leading insurers to facilitate communication with the goal of expediting care delivery.  The 2019 Help Desk included Highmark, UPMC, Aetna & United Healthcare.  “This is a big draw for Practice Managers looking for answers.  Many times, we don’t know the specifics surrounding a denied claim or supporting documentation necessary to help our patients,” noted Liz Yankello, Practice Manager at Sewickley Valley Pediatrics.

Medical Practice Innovation Shark Tank

New at MPHC2020 is a Shark Tank for innovators to present their pitches to practice manager “sharks” who will select the 2020 MPHC Shark Tank Award winner. “It is hard enough to keep up with the everyday, said Terri Dowd, VP Business Development at ACMS, “As healthcare technology advances, medical practices need to know what can solve problems, increase quality and keep the practice afloat.  This addition is a win, win, win at this event for sure!”
