SUMMARY:Reel Medicine Media presents Screening of "The Chaplain & The Docto
 r"
DESCRIPTION:“A must-see for anyone who cares about healthcare.” – San
Francisco Chronicle\nJoin us for a special screening of The Chaplain &amp
\; The Doctor at the Manor Theatre in Pittsburgh. Over the past year\, the
film has traveled the national film festival circuit\, earning awards and
standing ovations across the country. Now\, as part of its national scree
ning tour and impact campaign\, the film is returning to theaters for audi
ences to experience this powerful story firsthand.\nFollowing the screenin
g\, guests are invited to stay for a live Q&amp\;A featuring Dr. Jessica Z
itter and Chaplain Betty Clark\, moderated by Dr. Michael Deem.\n\nLearn M
ore\nUnable to attend? Join our newsletter or follow us on social media to
be the first to hear about future screenings and events.\n\nAbout the Fil
m\nThe Chaplain &amp\; The Doctor tells the remarkable story of two women
brought together through compassion\, care\, and a shared commitment to th
eir patients.\nBetty Clark is an 80-year-old African American chaplain ser
ving at Highland Hospital\, a Level I trauma center in Oakland\, Californi
 a. Dr. Jessica Zitter is a white\, Jewish physician who has worked alongsi
de Betty on the hospital’s Palliative Care team for more than a decade.\
nAt first\, they seem an unlikely pair. In the often hierarchical and silo
ed world of healthcare\, chaplains and physicians rarely work closely toge
ther. Dr. Zitter\, trained to trust science and medical intervention\, nev
er expected to form a deep connection with a chaplain. Likewise\, Chaplain
Clark never imagined a physician would take such interest in her work.\nO
ver time\, however\, their shared values and experiences break down barrie
rs\, leading to a profound partnership that transforms the way they care f
or patients. Under Betty’s guidance\, Jessica begins to recognize the bi
ases and barriers physicians can unintentionally bring to the bedside.\nAs
Betty later faces health challenges of her own\, Jessica becomes personal
ly involved in her care\, gaining deeper insight into the experiences of p
atients of color within the healthcare system.\nThe Chaplain &amp\; The Do
ctor offers a moving vision for the future of healthcare — one that hono
rs both the spirit and the body\, embraces the diverse backgrounds of pati
ents\, and centers the universal human need for dignity\, understanding\,
 and compassion.
