William K. Johnjulio, MD
Dr. Johnjulio serves as chair of Allegheny Health Network’s (AHN) Primary Care Institute as well as medical director of AHN’s clinically integrated network, Physician Partners of Western Pennsylvania LLC. He also is system chair of the Department of Family Medicine at AHN and is responsible for overseeing all clinical, administrative and academic components of the department. Dr. Johnjulio formerly was the program director of Forbes Family Medicine Residency at AHN.
A member of ACMS since 2004, Dr. Johnjulio has served on the Board of Directors since 2013. He was the ACMS treasurer in 2016, secretary in 2017, vice president in 2018 and president-elect in 2019, and currently serves on the Executive Committee and ACMS Foundation Board. He was a member of the Awards Committee in 2013 and the Membership Committee in 2015.
Dr. Johnjulio has held academic appointments in the departments of Family Medicine at Forbes Regional Hospital, Temple University and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as at the University of Pittsburgh College of Pharmacy.
Board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Johnjulio graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine and completed postgraduate training with a Family Medicine internship at the University of Rochester/Highland Hospital and a residency and chief year in Family Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He also completed a Faculty Development program at Duke University and an Executive Business Program at the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.
Dr. Johnjulio is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. He also is a member of the Medical Staff Executive Committee at AHN.
Dr. Johnjulio and his wife, Margot, reside in Fox Chapel and have two children, Will and Grace.
Patricia L. Bononi, MD, FACP
Dr. Bononi received her bachelor of science degree from Georgetown University. She earned her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes Mellitus.
Dr. Bononi is the medical director of the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Center for Diabetes since 2013. She has been site Principal Investigator for more than 20 clinical trials testing medications for diabetes mellitus.
A member of ACMS since 1992, Dr. Bononi has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2012, serving as treasurer in 2017, secretary in 2018 and vice president in 2019. She is currently on the Executive Committee and has co-chaired the Foundation Gala Committee since 2014. Dr. Bononi also has been an ACMS delegate to the Pennsylvania Medical Society since 2017.
Dr. Bononi is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and is a member of several other professional societies, including the Endocrine Society, American Diabetes Association and American Association of Clinical Endocrinology.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the JDRF of Western Pennsylvania and is a past member of the Community Leadership Board of the American Diabetes Association of Western Pennsylvania.
Dr. Bononi currently resides in Wexford.
Peter G. Ellis, MD
Dr. Ellis is the recently retired deputy director of Clinical Services, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, he also is a retired clinical professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and served as chief medical officer for Via Oncology Pathways.
Dr. Ellis is a recognized national leader in the efforts to improve the quality and reduce costs of cancer care and has published numerous abstracts and peer-reviewed publications on the topic.
He has held numerous leadership positions throughout his career, including managing partner of Oncology Hematology Association. In addition, he served as chairman of the National Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for The U.S. Oncology Network from 1996 to 2004 and was the clinical lead of the UPMC Oncology Network for 16 years, which now includes more than 50 sites.
Dr. Ellis has served on the board of directors of many organizations over the years, including the American Cancer Society, Western Region, serving as its president from 1998 to 2000; the St. Margaret Foundation; and American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Clinical Practice Committee.
A member of ACMS since 1990, Dr. Ellis has served on its Board of Directors since 2015 and was treasurer in 2018 and secretary in 2019. He has been a member of the Finance Committee since 2016, serving as chair in 2017, and is currently a member of the Executive Committee.
A Pittsburgh native, Dr. Ellis received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1985. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, followed by a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Duke University in Durham, N.C.
Matthew B. Straka, MD
Dr. Straka received a master of science degree in Neuroanatomy and Physiology at Northwestern University. He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1997 and completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery – at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Straka has been a provider with Straka & McQuone, Inc., since 2002. The practice is affiliated with Heritage Valley Sewickley, West Penn Hospital and St. Clair Hospital, and assists with endoscopic skull base procedures at Allegheny General Hospital. Dr. Straka has completed research and published articles in the areas of neurophysiology, head and neck cancer, deep neck space infections and sinus disease.
A member of ACMS since 1997, Dr. Straka has served as a delegate or alternate delegate to the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) since 2008. He has been a member of several ACMS committees, including the Nominating Committee, serving as chair from 2016 to 2017, and chairing the Finance Committee in 2018. Dr. Straka also has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2015 and served as treasurer in 2019, the same year he became a member of the Executive Committee. In addition to ACMS and PAMED, Dr. Straka is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology.
Dr. Straka and his wife, Michelle, a radiologist specializing in women’s imaging with Weinstein Imaging, reside in Sewickley with their four children.
David L. Blinn, MD
Dr. Blinn earned his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine, Omaha, Neb., in 1985. He spent several years in a General Surgery training program before completing his training in Internal Medicine at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital. Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine, Dr. Blinn is clinical instructor of medicine, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Dr. Blinn has served as a practitioner and administrative leader with Comprehensive Care Associates, UPMC, since 2012. He is medical director, Foundations Medical Services, a methadone maintenance program, and serves as medical director, Pyramid Healthcare, for both its inpatient drug and alcohol detoxification and rehabilitation center and outpatient drug and alcohol treatment center.
Dr. Blinn serves on the Credentials Committee at UPMC Passavant, as well as the Credentials Committee, Risk Management Committee, and Physician Advisory Committee, physician services division, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
A member of ACMS since 1985, Dr. Blinn has been a member of its Board of Directors since 2015. He is chair of the Finance Committee and has been a member of several other committees including Membership, Nominating, Organization Transformation and Foundation Gala, serving as co-chair in 2018. Dr. Blinn also was an ACMS delegate to the Pennsylvania Medical Society in 2019.
