DEA Inviting Your Expertise on Telemedicine Regarding Controlled Substances

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) will be holding listening sessions involving the prescribing of controlled substances by way of telemedicine.
The DEA is inviting health care providers to attend in-person and express their views regarding the advisability of:
- Prescribing Controlled Substances during telemedicine visits without the in-person evaluation being required at all.
- Availability and types of data that would be useful in detecting diversion of controlled substances by way of telemedicine that is already reported or could be reported.
- Specific safeguards that could be placed around the prescribing of Schedule II Controlled Substances by way of Telemedicine.
The DEA is accepting applications for in-person attendance through August 21, 2023.
Although there will be applications required to attend in-person or to present, the DEA will be live-streaming both events. These events will run from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day. For additional questions, please see the notice of the meeting.
