Module 1: Pain Management Guidelines
Explore the aims of the CDC Clinical Practice Guideline, understand the rationale behind the revision of the 2016 guideline, and review key updates in the 2022 guideline with an emphasis on patient-centered care.

Module 2: Pain Management Assessment & Informed Clinical Decision-Making
Learn how to implement a collaborative, stepped-care approach informed by the biopsychosocial model of pain. This session will cover comprehensive patient assessment, appropriate opioid initiation considerations, nonopioid medication options, and noninvasive, nonpharmacologic treatment approaches. Participants will also review how to effectively use the Pennsylvania Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) and examine current trends in controlled substance dispensing in Pennsylvania.

This session is ideal for clinicians seeking practical guidance to enhance safe prescribing practices, improve patient outcomes, and remain aligned with current state and national recommendations.
